Featured Shop: Ritzy and Glitzy

Featured Shop:  Ritzy and Glitzy

Shop Description:

My artisan jewelry is designed and professionally handcrafted using some of the finest materials. The pieces in my line consist of semi-precious stones, silver, gold plated, Swarovski crystals and pearls, and genuine leather.

My elegant pieces have accessorized many brides on their wedding day as well as their mothers and mothers of the groom. Although elegant pieces are my specialty, I design and create pieces for every style and occasion.

I spend a lot of time making sure that every detail of each piece is perfect. My jewelry is "made with love."

Where did you learn your craft?:

I've always loved jewelry. I'm drawn to it. I also love to express my creative side. I have been making jewelry since the 70's. You know, the hippie days. Technically, I've been making jewelry since I was a tike. Remember pop beads? So, I guess my mom started me off and I've been honing my craft ever since.

What inspires you?:
My love of creating jewelry is my biggest inspiration, but the amazing feedback I receive from my customers fills my heart with joy and inspires me to continue pleasing people with my designs.

Featured Shop: Rustic Groves Designs

Featured Shop:  Rustic Groves Designs

Shop Description:

I love to create things from a passage in time. From the piece of fallen aspen, a shed antler or hand molding a single rose. When the design is complete, it is truly one of a kind, made with personal feelings and inspiration. I am enveloped with images of enjoyment and satisfaction, knowing that what was once a simple piece of wood, antler or paper can become in my hands a true artistic expression.

Where did you learn your craft?:

When I was very little, my mother was very ill. My Aunt Mary would come from back east to take care of me and my siblings. She had so much class, my Aunt, and taught me how to express myself in paper designs. These teachings eventually developed into my own creative work with items that are found not only in nature, but everyday life.

What inspires you?:

I am inspired by delicate things, timeless things. Things that might bring people back to a memory in time.

Biography:

I am from a small town in Montana. I love the outdoors, the forest, walking through the grass. All things in nature, from pigeon berries to tall pine.

Featured Shop: Green Charm

 Featured Shop:  Green Charm

Shop Description:
I have made my own cosmetics for a couple of years. Firstly for myself, then for my friends and now for you. I try to use only natural and organic ingredients, that I buy in organic shop in Latvia and in Europe. Some ingredients I prepare myself. I pay special attention to products for blemished, oily skin and skin with acne as this problem is familiar to me. But I know that with properly selected means it can be solved and you'll get healthy, good-looking and gentle skin! All products I do first for myself, I test them and I am sure in their quality and effectiveness.

Where did you learn your craft?:

I am still learning, like all etsy sellers, I suppose.  I have, in addition to my basic education (linguistics) nurse education. I read a lot of literature before starting making my own cosmetics. I pretty much read and constantly learn from my own experience and from the experience of others.

What inspires you?:
I love happy people, I love beautiful women and I think that nature have almost all to help us to stay young and be happy.

Biography:
From early  youth I have oily and acne prone skin. I have tried many remedies, went to the doctors, but unfortunately, it's not really helped. And one day I thought: "Maybe I can help me myself?" and then I started to read books on dermatology and Cosmetology, interested in what happens to the body and the skin, look for recipes. Gradually, I realized that I could do for  myself my own scrubs, creams and medicated ointments.
Later, I became interested in other cosmetics (for hair and body). I started to study and this side of Cosmetology. Many of my friends have become "trailblazers" because I gave them  my new developments and insistently ask their opinion to improve what I do.
Recently I realized that I can help not only myrself, but also to make anyone's life more easier and the skin more beautiful. Then I opened the shop.
I have, in my opinion, a very mundane history: first you do something for yourself, then for friends and then you want to share your knowledge with everyone else.

Featured Shop: Bead Lovers Korner

Shop Description

I design and make beaded jewelry, beaded accessories like key chains and bookmarks and I also make rosaries and prayer beads. I am also and authorized dealer for Carlo Biagi Beads and Landmark Beads, both brands are high quality sterling silver European style beads. Last but no least I carry some jewelry supplies for other jewelry designers.

Where did you learn your craft:

About 12-13 years ago I became enamored with beads and took a couple of classes in Orlando, Florida. I had done some beading as a craft when I was younger, along with other types of art, but really liked the idea of making my own jewelry and decorations so I took the classes in Orlando. To enhance my knowledge of precious metals, beads and jewelry I also took the Accredited Jewelry Professional course with the Gemological Institute of America and received my diploma in 2009.

What inspires you?:

I can’t really put my finger on any one thing that inspires me... designs and ideas just kind come to me at different times. The more I handle different beads, the more ideas I get and I have been known to sketch out an idea, put it aside and then come back to it when I am ready. I really try to make beaded creations that have meaning or a purpose, and sometimes they are goofy or nerdy, but you never know who might be looking for just what you are making.

Biography:

I have been beading and selling beads for over 12 years and love what I do. About three years ago I quit my full time day job and have been trying to make ends meet with my jewelry and beads. While I am by no means “raking in the bucks”, I am able to contribute to the household budget and keep my little business going. I love working for myself and have a schedule I try to follow every day and I am so much happier than I used to be working for other people. This year I was accepted into the Artisan Group and have learned so much more about promotion and designs from all of the talented artists in the group. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to send one of my earring designs as part of a Stylist Gift Bag initiative, coordinated by The Artisan Group®, to the Wardrobe Stylist of the hit TV series “The Vampire Diaries”. My “Eternal Reflection Earrings” were chosen by the stylist and worn by Elena (actress Nina Dobrev) in the recent episode “True Lies” (Episode 5:2) which aired on October 10th.

Featured Shop: Creations by Kelly

Featured Shop:  Creations by Kelly

Shop Description:  Our daughter, Kaylee, was born pre-maturely, but healthy, in the summer of 2006. When she came home from the hospital, she was having trouble eating and had to be readmitted the following week due to dehydration (that summer was up over 90 degrees every day!) and feeding issues. She was observed in the NICU for a week and determined doing well enough to go home.

Unfortunately, when we went into get her, my husband and I were brought into the "back room" where no parent wants to go with the doctor. We were told our sweet little girl had hydrocephalus and had to go into the city hospital to have a shunt placed to help the pressure subside. The ambulance to take her in was on its way!!!

Throughout the years, we have had very little complications due to her shunt placement, but we have had many other medical concerns with Kaylee, stemming from her hydrocephalus. I have always had it in my mind to figure out how I could "give back" and support those that have helped our little girl survive and thrive, and that is how I came up with the idea for my business.

Each piece is handcrafted and put together by my own hands and therefore, no two pieces will be exactly alike, just the way no two kids with hydrocephalus are the same.

Where Did You Learn Your Craft:   I took a couple of classes to get the basics and have really tried to allow self-expression for each piece. As you will see in my shop, each piece can be slightly different, but unique as it is made by my hands.  This passion of creating each piece comes from my daughter's condition and knowing everyone that lives with this condition is different, there is no "way to recognize a hydro kid," everyone has different symptoms, as different medical conditions can go along with the condition.  This view is not restricted by creating items a certain way or using a certain method, it again allows me to just freely create!!  I hope this makes sense!!!

What Inspires You:   Not what inspires me, but who!  My daughter Kaylee is the inspiration for my creations.  She is the strongest little girl I know, from when she was born and to this day!

Biography:  I live in Massachusetts with my hubby and 2 wonderful children.  Spending time as a family is my most favorite thing in the world.  I have been creating items for about 1 1/2 years and hope to expand my business and raise awareness about Hydrocephalus.
